I want to organize local hikes where people from different specialties (geologists, botanists, entomologists, etc.) point out all the cool things they see and teach the others about it.
Yeah, the only problem is that it would take you like… 3 days to complete what should have been a 3 hour hike
This is a valid point I hadn’t thought of though not necessarily a problem.
Anyway what I’ve learned today is that there is a market for the public bath house to come back.
Y’know. Giant pool of steaming hot water, soaps and oils and suchlike provided, a small nominal fee at the door to come in and use the facilities, (with occasional free days) refreshments you can purchase on site. Full on Roman style public baths.
fuck all philosophy except for whatever the hell Diogenes was trying to teach
direct action
How about just being polite & going into a debate with those who hold diffrent beliefs then you?
how about you eat my shit and hair
staying true to spirit
the OG of the vicious burn
Diógenes said you couldn’t spit anywhere but in the face of a rich man because once this rich dude invited him into his house and literally told him you can’t spit on anything that touches the floor so Diógenes spit in this guys face
here is a very good painting of Diógenes in his tub that i had the good fortune of actually seeing earlier this year
I love that Diogenes is making a comeback in the twenty-first century.
shit tier: we should put our complete trust in roman historians like tacitus, suetonius, and livy and take everything they say as true
okay tier: while roman historians are our best bet for understanding roman history, it’s important to recognize their biases and take what they say with a grain of salt
good tier: roman history is best learned through a combination of roman historians, material culture and epigraphy, and other non-historical literature written by contemporary sources in order to get a variety of viewpoints from ancient sources and better understand how the romans perceived their own history
